Alt tag – Alt tags tell what an image is.  When you hover over an image, a box will appear with the text contained in the Alt tag.  The impact of using ALT tags, in terms of search engine optimization, is low. With that said, Alt tags are ADA (Americans With Disability Act) requirement for government websites.
